Chart June 06

Here's some tracks I urge you to check out - there's links to a couple of them, though if you like them, you should probably, y'know, buy them.

01. Peaches - Downtown (Simian Mobile Disco Remix)
XL

SMD do it again, taking the filthiest girl in pop (she's lovely really) and injecting a fat slab of acid house right up her...well, you know. No idea what the originals like and don't care really.

02. Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (Nightmoves Remix)
Kitsune

Awesome remix of an awesome song by an awesome band. Nuff said ? No, well, it's coming out on Kitsune (where else) and Nightmoves have just done another mix of the Klaxons new single too - check the two Klaxons mixes and the Infadels mix (number ten in the chart) here.

03. MSTRKRFT - Street Justice
679

Sod it, just get the whole album ok. Sterling stuff from the Death From Above 1979 electro side project that looks set to overshadow the original band (who incidentally made my favorite record of last year - and this one looks set to follow the trend.)

04. Goose - Black Gloves
Skint

Filthy little stomper thats likely to explode in the coming months, really simple and highly effective. Best thing I've heard on Skint in years.

05. Sunshine Underground - I Ain't Losing Any Sleep (Serge Santiago Remix)
City Rockers

Really nice that Mr Santiago hasn't really changed the track at all, just shoved a beat behind it and extended it out a bit. Quite dodgy lyrics on this one, but still a great band and now it'll work on the dancefloor too.

06. Nicky Vanshe & Dangerous Dan - Around the World Again in 5.07
Bang Gang

As heard on the latest Bang Gang Podacst from Australia. A rocky dub of the Daft Punk classic, and how. On white label for now (think there's some copies left in Phonica) but hopefully getting an official release soon. If you wanna hear it, it'll be on my next mix (coming soon)

07. A Touch of Class - Streetdub
ATOC

Ignore the dodgy electro-punk A side and head straight for the flip for an instrumental DFA-style guitar workout that's as good as anything The Rapture have put their name to in recent years (although thats very little admittedly).

08. Cajuan - Raven (B Side Mix)
Fine

Mental big room electro track. Reminds me of Soulwax's Nite Versions LP. Play loud.

09. The Knife - We Share Our mother Health (Trentemoller Remix)

I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed with this when I first heard it - nothing can top his Royksopp mix after all - but it still pisses on most tracks around at the moment from a great height, and is definately 'a grower' as they say. It's The Knife, it's Trentemoller - what more do you need to know, go buy it !

10. Infadels - Girl That Speaks No words (Nightmoves Remix)

Nightmoves does it again, listened to this once on Myspace and it's now stuck in my head and won't go away. A massive disco build up that makes the infadels sound better than they've ever sounded - they should produce the next album.

On another note, thanks to those who came down to the Rampart Social Centre the other week, setup was a bit of a shambles but we danced around and got pissed so it was a lot of fun. There'll be a new mix on the way soon, and don't forget to come down on Monday 10th july when I'll be playing 93 Feet East.

Some Gigs

Just a quick note to say I'll be playing a couple of nights in the coming weeks.

Firstly at the Real Eyes Benefit Night at The Rampart Social Centre on Friday the 16th - it's £3 on the door i think but it's for a worthy cause and there's plenty of stuff going on there apparently. More details as and when I have them - I only found out about it the other day.

Then, on Monday the 10th July, I'm making my almighty debut at 93 Feet East - this one's free as its in the bar, and I'll be playing a couple of hour long sets. Apologies to those who I told it was the 19th June - it's been postponed as apparently they're showing something called the World Cup in there that evening - God knows what thats about.

See you in the pub then - come on England !
